Setting Up a Smooth Move to Dumbo
Dumbo is short for “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.” The neighborhood sits between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, looks straight across at the skyline and stretches east toward Vinegar Hill.
Long before it was Dumbo, the area was called Gairville. It began as a ferry landing and grew into an industrial district, which is why you find cobblestone streets, converted warehouses and a working waterfront. Today that history makes it one of the most appealing places to live in New York.
Those same cobblestones and loft freight elevators are why a professional crew makes such a difference here. MPs New York packs your belongings, handles the furniture and delivers everything safely to your new home.
Why New Yorkers Are Moving to Dumbo
The neighborhood’s industrial bones suit boutiques, galleries and restaurants with personality. It is also a hub for technology and creative companies, with hundreds of firms based in its old warehouse buildings.
Getting to the other boroughs is quick, and once you learn to work around the tourists, Brooklyn Bridge Park offers some of the best views in the city right outside your door.
