We take the safety of your belongings seriously at every step. Coverage is part of that. Below are the options available on your move, so you can pick the one that fits your items and your budget.
Valuation Coverage Options
Three levels of protection, from the standard minimum to tailored coverage.
Option 1: Included basic coverage
Comes with every move at no extra cost. Items are covered at up to 60 cents per pound per article for loss or damage. A good fit if you want standard protection with no added expense.
Option 2: Extended coverage
For more peace of mind, extended (full-value) protection covers your shipment up to the value you declare. It is priced per $1,000 of declared value, with the rate, minimum, maximum and deductible spelled out in your quote. Recommended for high-value belongings.
Option 3: Third-party coverage
Prefer an outside insurer? You can buy a moving policy from a third-party provider and name MPs New York as your mover. We supply whatever details the insurer needs.

Rates and terms for extended coverage are confirmed in your written quote. Third-party policies usually must be bought a few days before your move.
Choosing the Right Coverage
Basic coverage may be enough if
- Most of your furniture is lightweight or inexpensive
- You are comfortable with a per-pound payout
Consider extended or third-party if
- You are moving art, antiques or a piano
- You own designer furniture or electronics
- You want reimbursement closer to replacement value
For third-party policies
- Buy the policy at least a few days before moving day
- Check how long the insurer's estimate stays valid
- Name MPs New York as your moving company
Certificate of Insurance on Request
If your building requires proof of insurance, we issue a Certificate of Insurance (COI) at no extra charge and send it directly to management. Just tell us when you book.
