FAQ
Booking and Scheduling
How far in advance should I book my move?+
As early as you can. More lead time means a better chance of getting your preferred pickup and delivery dates, and more room to plan for building rules, packing and any special items. That said, we also handle last-minute moves whenever our schedule allows.
Can you pick up from more than one location?+
Yes. Many moves involve more than one stop, such as an apartment plus a storage unit, two offices being combined, or items at a relative's home. Let us know every address when you request a quote and we will plan the route and timing around them.
What if I need to change my moving date?+
Plans change, and we understand that. Contact your move coordinator as soon as you know a new date is needed, and we will do our best to find a slot that works for you.
My new place is not ready yet. What are my options?+
You can either stay longer at your current home or have us hold your belongings until the new place is ready. We offer overnight, short-term and long-term storage, and your coordinator can help you choose the option that fits your timeline.
FAQ
Estimates and Pricing
Can someone come to my home for a free estimate?+
Yes. On request, a relocation consultant can visit your home, walk through your belongings and answer your moving and storage questions. You will receive a written binding estimate that lists every cost and service included. Virtual walkthroughs are also available. Request a quote.
What does a binding estimate mean?+
A binding estimate is a written guarantee of the price of your move, based on the services requested or needed at the time of the estimate. If you add services later, such as extra items, more packing, or a shuttle truck for a street a full-size truck cannot reach, those specific additions are priced separately.
Do you charge by the hour, by weight or by volume?+
We provide flat-rate quotes, so you know your price upfront. Local moves are usually priced based on the volume of your belongings in cubic feet, while long-distance moves can be priced differently. Your consultant will explain exactly how your move is priced. See flat-fee moving for details.
Which payment methods do you accept?+
We accept credit and debit cards, certified checks, cashier's checks, money orders, Zelle, Venmo and cash. For long-distance moves, half of the total is due at pickup and the remaining balance is due at delivery.
FAQ
Packing, Furniture and Appliances
What should I pack myself?+
Packing refers to small and loose items, not furniture. How much you do yourself depends on your time, budget and energy. You can leave all of it to us, pack part of it, or pack everything yourself. Most customers ask us to handle artwork, lamps, electronics and anything fragile. Mention items that need special care when you get your estimate. See our packing services.
Do I need to take my furniture apart?+
No. You can disassemble pieces yourself to save time, but it is not required. Most customers leave it to our crew, and we reassemble everything we take apart at your new home. Learn more about furniture disassembly.
Do appliances need special preparation?+
Usually, yes. Refrigerators, washers, dryers and other mechanical appliances often need moving parts, such as washer drums and motors, secured before transport. Gas appliances must be serviced and disconnected before the move. Our qualified staff or an authorized service provider can take care of this, so ask your consultant about appliance servicing.
FAQ
Buildings and Insurance
How do I get a Certificate of Insurance (COI)?+
Ask the super or building manager at both your current and new buildings whether a COI is required. A COI shows the building that your mover carries insurance covering damage to the property and its staff. If either building needs one, send us the building's requirements through our contact form with your name, phone number, email and the details of the request. Please allow 24 to 48 hours for processing. More on COI for movers.
How are my belongings protected during the move?+
Every move includes basic valuation coverage, and additional protection options are available. Our guide to moving insurance explains the differences so you can choose the right level for your belongings.
