Want to do it yourself? These tips help you get a great result and keep your walls intact.
Plan
- Hang art at eye level so it can be seen comfortably
- Cut paper templates the size of each frame and tape them up to test layouts
- Mark the centerline and edges before drilling
Know your wall
- Use a stud finder for heavy or valuable pieces; drywall alone may not hold them
- Brick and plaster need different hardware than sheetrock
- Mark nail or drill points before you start
Hang
- Use a level, ruler or straightedge to keep frames straight
- For damage-free hanging, use adhesive hooks
- Always check the weight rating on adhesive hooks
