2. Going Without a Plan

You do not have to schedule every minute, but a simple plan makes a big difference. Keep a checklist of tasks and a basic inventory sheet for what goes into each box.

Pack the things you use least first: off-season clothes, guest linens, decor and books. Pick a corner in each room for finished boxes, or label them and move them to one staging area so they stay out of the way.

3. Skipping the Sorting

Throwing everything into boxes empties rooms quickly, but it also means you pay to move things you no longer need.
